Announcing: Dog House Design Studio

I (Aidan Hennebry) have been working in graphic design and marketing——in one capacity or another——for more than 10 years. For the past 4, I’ve just been operating under my name. It felt time to update that.

I’m proud to announce the official launch of Dog House Design Studio 🎉

If you want to know more about me, the studio, and everything that has led here, I’d love to take you on a very brief tour.

Welcome to the Dog House

My 99 sq. ft. office dubbed “The Dog House”

When we moved to St. Thomas in 2022, I was lucky enough to set up my home office at the back of my property in a little work shed (that had been previously used as a glorified dog house). We kept the name to hearken back to its old function (and also because it’s funny to say, “Aidan’s in the dog house again.”).

This little space has become one of my favourite places in the whole world. You can imagine why.

Messy desk / clear mind

Naming the business after the work shed has more meaning than just the surface one.

For years, I’d been telling my wife Leanne that——if it were ever possible——I’d love to have a work shed on the back of our property where my home office could live. I didn’t really expect it to happen, but when we bought our current home, a huge draw was this space which I’d immediately envisioned as the fulfilment of this dream I’d had.

Every day I get to work from the Dog House is, in an honest way, a dream come true. For a time, I commuted an hour into Toronto every day and an hour back. It was miserable. Now, it takes me less than 30 seconds to cross my 100ft of backyard to get to my office. I can have lunch with my wife nearly every day, and I’m home with my kids mere seconds after finishing the work day.

Like I said, a dream.

The Design Work

I didn’t set up a business just because I had a killer name for it, though. I (now formally) set up a business because I love graphic design deeply and working with clients is it’s own dream come true.

Design has always been the perfect combination of math and art, science and faith for me. It is problem solving with a creative flair. I love that.

2025 will be a big year for the Dog House Design Studio. Mark my words.

Whether you’ve been following along with me over these past 10+ years or are just joining now, it’s good to have you here. Thank you for caring.

Welcome to the dog house, my friends.

The light in here can be really, really good.

Also, beauties like these are known to hang around the Dog House from time to time. You can understand why I spend so much time in here.
